How to resolve Failed to create designer “Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer” ?

Dear All,

One of frustrating point is when you are in hurry and you got error like “Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer” .

As shown in below figure.

Report_Viewer_Error

Actually , I was trying to migrate one web project from vs2010 to vs2013 and I faced this issue.

To resolve this I did following changes

Updated  keys which are highlighted in web.config

<compilation debug="false" targetFramework="4.5">
  <assemblies>
    <add assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" />
    <add assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" />
    <add assembly="Microsoft.Build.Framework, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B03F5F7F11D50A3A" />
    <add assembly="System.Management, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B03F5F7F11D50A3A" />
  </assemblies>
  <buildProviders>
    <add extension=".rdlc" type="Microsoft.Reporting.RdlBuildProvider, Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" />
  </buildProviders>
</compilation>

<httpHandlers>
     <add path="Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd" verb="*" type="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" validate="false" />
   </httpHandlers>

<handlers>
     <add name="ReportViewerWebControlHandler" preCondition="integratedMode" verb="*" path="Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd" type="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" />
   </handlers>

And on page

<%@ Register Assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" Namespace="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms" TagPrefix="rsweb" %><%@ Register Assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" Namespace="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms" TagPrefix="rsweb" %>

After changing this my problem is not resolve exactly. So I have updated NUGET Package for ReportViewer and we are good to go.

Thanks

RJ!!

How to generate XSD from XML in 2 minutes ?

Dear Friends,

Many times we require XSD from XML which we can utilize in our code. so to achieve this we need to run a simple command which will create your XML in XSD. Now you are thinking what is that command so here we go

you just need to write following command on command prompt

XSD.EXE  “YourXML file Name”  /outputdir:

Example

XSD.exe “d:\myxml.xml” /outputdir:

When you run it it will generate the XSD file in system32 folder.

I hope you like it.

Thanks & Regards,

“dynamic” new feature in .NET 4.0 , How to use it ?

Dear Friends,
VS 2010 introduce a new variable type which is dynamic.
By the name it is clear that it will have dynamic property means what will be the data type will be decide at run time.
Suppose if I declare dynamic Name = “rajat”

Then Name variable considered as a string variable

Simillarly dynamic Age = 21

Then Age variable is considered as integer.

To understand it more lets follow the example below.

I have declared a test variable which is dynamic type and on each line I assign a different value to the variable as shown in below fig.

dynamic Variable Example

When you run this set of statements you will find following result.

dynamic Variable Type Result

The first variable assignment is considered as integer, the second variable assignment is considered as a string and after last value which is date time variable considered as datatime variable.

So we have seen at each assignment of the value the nature of variable is also changed which is so dynamic that’s why the name it is called dynamic variable type. It Means it bypass compiler time checking.

I hope it give some hit how to use dynamic and where we can use it.

Thanks & best regards,
Rajat Jaiswal
